The Director, IT Operations shall provide leadership and management to the Information Technology (IT) area of the Operations department to provide, operate, and maintain computing and telecommunication facilities, equipment, and services that meet the needs of the company.  This position is responsible for all aspects of information technology management and control, including supervision of IT employees and consultants; budget preparation and recommendations for technical acquisitions; and development of guidelines, standards and procedures. This position is charged with strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the IT department and support all internal and external users.




  • Plan and implement additions, deletions and major modifications to the computerized infrastructure company-wide in coordination with corporate leadership. Will create infrastructure project portfolio dashboard listing all in-flight and planned projects.


  • Will standardize infrastructure, rationalize vendors, and deploy converged infrastructure.


  • Oversee the implementation of network security at the corporate level.


  • Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company infrastructure. Ensure that company stays current and competitive with respect to IT infrastructure & services.


  • Oversee all IT related purchasing and budget usage in accordance with approved company budget. 


  • Serve as primary contact with outside vendors and consultants in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements, and other major vendor interactions.


  • Ensure the continual functioning of all mission critical operations. Develop, review, and certify all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.


  • Produce, maintain and provide existing and impromptu executive level reporting to management. 


  • Effectively manage outside consultants for work that cannot be performed in house.


  • Reinforce team approach throughout practice of job performance. Support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the organization and across all departments.


  • Communicate effectively with internal clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies. Continually define ways to increase internal client satisfaction.


  • Oversee Incident Management, System Outage Summary (SOS), Problem Management, Performance Scorecard and Service Level Management processes across all offices.


  • Manage all aspects of JDE ERP System including maintenance, implementations, troubleshooting issues, version upgrades, licenses, and user requests.


  • Maintains SQL database and manages all aspects of Cognos Reporting system including monitoring of automated daily reports, modifications of existing reports, and creation of new reports from user requests.


  • Actively manages the pipeline process of handling internal/external change requests to support the business’s core applications (i.e. JDE, Cognos, iContracts, EDI).


  • Manages all technical aspects of serialization (DSCSA) including onboarding, master data, and external interchanges.


  • Proactively shares knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build a competitive advantage and improving efficiency and effectiveness of the business.


  • Provides support in delivering technology products and services to ensure business satisfaction.


  • Facilitates the planning and execution of business changes through the (effective) use of technology.


  • Serves a lead role in enabling the business to achieve their objectives through the effective use of technology.


  • Introduce IT Governance, policies, procedures and standards as well as contract administration, vendor performance and SLA adherence for all core business applications.




  • Bachelor’s degree (or commensurate experience) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.


  • 10+ years’ experience in Information Technology with increasing responsibility and proven track record. 


  • 5+ years’ experience in JDE ERP system, EDI, SQL Database, and Cognos reporting.  Knowledge of Createform a plus.


  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry preferred.


  • Must be a problem solver with a can-do attitude that can communicate effectively with users at all levels of the company. 


  • Must be a self-starter that can effectively manage multiple projects at once.


  • Strong understanding of the business to include their business drivers for success, process and approaches to business models.


  • Must possess initiative and drive, have broad relevant technical knowledge with good management expertise and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with team members at all levels of the organization.
